What is the bike?
It is a fully refurbished Pashley Pronto Bike! These fantastic utility bikes were once used by the Royal Mail. About 25,000 of them were in service delivering mail until about 10 years ago until they all got decommissioned in favour of mechanised trolleys and delivery vans.
The bikes were hand built in Stratford upon Avon by Pashley Cycles using quality steel and dependable components like the 3 speed Sturmey Archer gears and hub brakes and puncture resistant tyres.
What you have is a solid bicycle that is built to last and one that is very practical with its load carrying capability. Great for doing the shopping, transporting kids, or trips to the beach; they really are versatile. Bike Boom have acquired a few dozen and fully refurbished them to near new condition. One of them is now ready for another 30 years of trouble free service with a Move for Change participant!
Who are Bike Boom?
Bike Boom is small independent bicycle repair shop with a community focus, born during the first national lockdown. By visiting their shop in Southwick, you'll find great quality servicing and good honest advice, the old fashioned way.
Bike Boom care about the environment enormously and conduct their business in the greenest way possible. Their aim is to get people to use their bicycles more and cars less. They don't want cycling to just be considered a sport or leisure pursuit.
They do lots of community events throughout the year where they take their tools to popular destinations and fix peoples bikes for free or teach them the basics of bicycle maintenance.
